Our Story

Why We Back Students at the Finish Line

Ghana has made real progress getting children into primary and secondary school. The point where support disappears is later at university and technical institute, where fees, materials and living costs arrive all at once, and families who have carried a student for twelve years can no longer carry them for three more. A student who withdraws in their second year keeps the cost of the years already spent and none of the qualification. That is the moment the Impala Foundation exists for.

The gap we found

Working in Tamale, Ho and the Volta Region, we met the same pattern in every institution we visited: students already admitted, already performing, already halfway deferring or dropping out over amounts smaller than the cost of a single classroom block. No scholarship scheme was reaching them, because on paper they had already made it. Nobody was counting the ones who quietly stopped showing up.

Where this is going

Our vision is a generation of Ghanaian graduates who finish what they started and return that capacity to the communities that raised them the teacher, the nurse, the welder, the technician a community like Vume or Dodze would otherwise never have had. That is why education, healthcare and community development sit inside one foundation: they are the same investment, measured over a longer horizon.
